Summer check in

When I was young, I always felt like July 4th meant that summer was almost over. I don't know why I felt that way because in Ohio school didn't let out until sometime around June 6th, so really summer was just getting started. I was a kid... what can I say?

Now that I am an adult, I like to use July 4th ad a time to sit down and think about how my summer is going. What do I need to do differently? What is working perfectly and doesn't need to change?

So far, this is a pretty damn good summer.

Christian is doing great with school. He passed his classes with flying colors, and in fact his history professor told him that he didn't need to take the final, because even if he got a 0 he would pass with an A. :-)

Christian's college schedule is fitting well in to our life, and honestly I think it may be partially responsible for how good this summer has been. We get up early, get our crap done and then have the rest of the day to do whatever we want to.

Alex and Ethan are plugging along well with school. They are doing a lighter load during the summer but starting this week I am going to add a few more things in. They will still be done by the time that most of their friends wake up. :-)

Marty has a lot going on with work. He has two out of town meetings (Nashville and Birmingham) two weeks in a row.

Marty and Ethan are going white water rafting for Ethan's birthday, and The I will be taking Alex and Christian to either Jackson or Birmingham for PF Chang's and just hanging out.

Tomorrow is the 4th and we are going to hang around at home for the day and then go to a friends to let off fireworks. If the pool isn't too crazy, we will have them over to swim in the afternoon.

Last year we celebrated July 4th by starting a walking routine in Germany. Woot. Not! It was very strange to not be with family, and not watch fireworks. Sure, we were having a great time, but you can't beat spending time with family and friends.
